A good hot wing is hard to find. The meat has to be juicy, yet the skin must be crispy, and the sauce has to have a perfect amount of heat. Hot Wings Cafe on Melrose does wings pretty well, and you get a lot of wing for your buck.
Buffalo Wings – 16 piece – $10.80
If you can eat 16 wings by yourself, good for you – you’re still under the $15 limit. But for this visit, I shared the 16 piece with another person and also ordered a side of cheese fries, and the amount of food was perfect. We ordered the “hot” sauce, and I can handle spice – so next time I might go for the extra hot. The sauce was really good, and while the wings are pretty small, they’re filling. The crispy skin on these wings gives them a nice crunch. Make sure to roll the wings that come on the top of the basket in all of the goodness on the bottom.
Cheese Fries – $3.95
These cheese fries are nothing to write home about, but they’re definitely what you want from an order of cheese fries. Salty curly fries covered in fake melted cheese. It’s heaven.
The total pre-tax came to $14.75, and it absolutely filled up 2 hungry people. If you can really eat, they do have specials on Monday and Tuesday where you can get a stupid amount of wings for a stupid price – like 50 wings for $26. If you can eat all 50, send us a pic and we’ll post it here!
