Chabuya Tokyo Noodle Bar

There’s nothing better on a cool night than a big hot bowl of ramen. Chabuya is a great ramen spot on the westside with a very cool ambience – they have a projector showing a slideshow of photos of Japan to enjoy while you’re waiting for your food. So cute and romantic for a date!  But I sat at the bar by myself and was entertained by watching the chef prepare ramen in the open kitchen. I mean, check out all of these pots! Quite the operation.

I kept wondering how he remembered which broth was which. And sitting back with a bottle of sake, watching him drop the noodles into the boiling water is actually really entertaining.

Kimchee – $2.50

This is some of the best kimchee I’ve had so far. It was particularly spicy and tangy, leaving a little buzz on the tongue.

Agedashi Tofu – $4.50

Yum, yum, yum, yum, yum. I love fried tofu, and this broth was exceptional. I could’ve eaten this as my whole meal. Highly recommended.

Kara Kara Ramen – $8.50

First of all, holy crap that’s a lot of ramen for $8.50. I ordered the spicy pork ramen with ground pork broth, and I have to admit, it was a little on the porky side – even for me. Next time, I plan on trying the original or veggie ramen instead of this big bowl of heartburn. But most yelpers seem to think this is the best item on the menu, so I’ll leave it up to you to decide.
